Alan Rosenbloom’s current interest focuses on human brain dysfunction (called delirium) in a clinical setting (intensive care units) and the effect of standard drug treatments of delirium on brain metabolism, regional neuronal activity, and connectivity. He is also building a “delirium attack team” between CMU and Pitt, capable of monitoring blood drug levels and neurotransmitters, doing biometrics/behavioral analytics, imaging the brain (NIRS-EEG), and interpreting the data (dynamic network analysis, AI, machine learning). Rosenbloom also teaches an annual fall semester course in the Biomedical Engineering Department.
