Important Dates

 

To honor the memory of Timothy J. Burritt and his dedication to education

Tim Burritt, former undergraduate advisor for the College of Engineering, worked diligently at completing his bachelor's degree at Duquesne University while excelling at his work duties. Tim's accomplishments and pride in CIT are remembered through the Burritt Education Award.


Recipients will receive an engraved award and a $250 cash prize.


Please note that applications for the Burritt Education Award are reviewed separately from nominations for the CIT Staff Recognition Award. Eligible staff members may apply for the Burritt Education Award and be nominated for the Staff Recognition Award in the same year.


Nomination Guidelines


Eligibility - Any CIT staff member who is enrolled as a continuing education student at any degree level and at any institution during the current calendar year is eligible, including recent graduates. Current members of the CIT Staff Recognition Award Committee are not eligible.


Criteria -

  • Maintains balance of work and school

  • Shows perseverance in quest for education

  • Enthusiastic about the value of continuing education


Procedure - The application for the Burritt Education Award is self-initiated. If you are currently pursuing continuing education for personal and/or professional development and feel that you meet the criteria, please submit the following materials by the nomination deadline:

  • A one-page essay describing why you are pursuing continuing education

  • Two letters of support (one from supervisor, one from any other CIT staff or faculty member)
