About CIT

So why is the College of Engineering called CIT? When Andrew Carnegie started the school in 1906, it was called the Carnegie Institute of Technology (CIT), and the acronym stuck.

international students

International students have additional requirements, but don't worry—more than 20% of our students are from countries other than the United States.

did you know...?

Every year our students build high-tech soapbox racers as part of a campus-wide competition called Buggy? Student organizations designate teams to compete in a five-person relay race around Flagstaff Hill in neighboring Schenley Park. It's wild—with crazy cars and cheering crowds. Drivers steer the buggy through the free roll portion of the race, hitting speeds of up to 35 mph.
