Event: Carnegie Mellon University's Anthony D. Rollett will Co-Chair the 13th annual International Conference on Aluminum Alloys which showcases emerging technologies in aluminum production.

"This is a global premier conference designed for the exchange of knowledge about the structure and properties of aluminum materials, to provide academic enrichment for attendees and for nurturing the advancement of aluminum application development worldwide," said Rollett, a professor of materials science and engineering at CMU. "Aluminum is an important ingredient for a variety of industry sectors from aerospace and automotive manufacturing to architecture."

More than 300 engineers and scientists from around the world will come to Pittsburgh, the birthplace of the modern aluminum industry, to discuss a variety of technical themes spanning everything from the science of aluminum alloy design to novel aluminum products and processes.

In addition to prestigious academic researchers, the conference will host aluminum industry and community leaders including: Ray Kilmer, chief technology officer of Alcoa; Stefan Erdmann, vice president of global research and development for Novelis; Ao Hang, vice president of Chalco; Dennis Yablonsky, chief executive of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County Executive.
