Gregory, an assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at Carnegie Mellon, is leading a research team developing a new treatment for cleaning water used in shale-gas production. He will moderate a discussion of the challenges posed by the development of the Marcellus Shale layer, a supply of natural gas that runs beneath northern Pennsylvania.Panelists include State Senator Jay Costa (D-43rd District); Rich Fitzgerald, president of Allegheny County Council and owner of Aquanef Engineering; Kathryn Klaber, executive director of the Marcellus Shale Coalition; Ron Obee, manager of engineering and construction at Williams Midstream; and Ray Walker, vice president of the Marcellus Shale Division at Range Resources.
