Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon Engineering Students to Dedicate Race Car in Memory of Fallen Pittsburgh Police Officers

The students are raising money for the fallen officers’ families in a campaign called “A Penny for your Memories.” Donations will be collected in a homemade wishing well constructed for the event. Ceremonial bagpipers will play as students, Pittsburgh Police officers and Carnegie Mellon Police help engrave the memorial patch on the race vehicle. Students also will demonstrate the speed and agility of the SAE race car. The event is open to the public. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
