Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon’s Pradeep Khosla to Testify at Congressional Hearing About GI Bill Implementation

Event: Carnegie Mellon University’s Pradeep K. Khosla is scheduled to testify about the technological challenges of automating all GI bill requests at a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C. Khosla, dean of Carnegie Mellon’s College of Engineering and an expert in information technology and cybersecurity issues, will discuss both the challenges and feasibility of implementing a new benefits package for all veterans who served actively for three years after the Sept. 11 attacks.

As part of the new veteran’s benefit package, the government wants to automate all GI bill requests and is looking to hire a private contractor to set up the system. Khosla, who has helped Carnegie Mellon establish 12 different degree programs in 10 foreign countries, will outline the steps needed to make the new system efficient and economical.
