Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon Engineering Students, Steelers Mascot Steely McBeam to Pack Christmas Care Boxes for Carnegie Mellon Alums Serving in U.S. Military

EVENT: Carnegie Mellon University engineering students and Pittsburgh Steelers mascot Steely McBeam will create an assembly line of goodwill when they stuff more than a dozen packages with university memorabilia and the famous "Terrible Towels" for Carnegie Mellon alums now serving at U.S. military posts worldwide. John Wiss, an adjunct professor of mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon, said the students developed the idea to create the care boxes as part of "Make a Difference Day" - the largest national day of helping others. The students also will craft specially designed key chains to include in the Christmas packages they plan to mail Oct. 27, which marks the 17th annual "Make a Difference Day," sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine.
