Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon Welcomes National Cyber Experts to InfraGard Pittsburgh's 2007 Safe Schools Conference

EVENT: Mary Beth Buchanan, the U.S. attorney for Western Pennsylvania, will join a handful of national and local cyber experts to discuss ways of protecting America's youth from online predators and other cyber-bullying activities at InfraGard Pittsburgh's 2007 Safe Schools Conference, a collaboration between the FBI, the private sector and public industries connected to the nation's critical infrastructure.  

Event highlights will include a demonstration of a new interactive MySecureCyberspace portal for home users, a cyber game for children created by Carnegie Mellon's Information Networking Institute (INI) and Carnegie Mellon CyLab, and a bomb-squad robot demo by the Allegheny County Police Department. Other speakers include cybersecurity experts from the FBI, area law firms, the Pittsburgh Public School District, the Hampton School District, the Hampton Police Department and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Child Predator Unit.

The event is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon's INI and its Master of Science in Information Security Technology and Management program, the Master of Science in Information Security Policy and Management program (MSISPM) at the university's H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management, Allegheny County Emergency Services and the Pittsburgh Regional Business Coalition for Homeland Security.
