Carnegie Mellon Brownfields Center Hosts Press Event To Unveil Workshop Recommendations For Route 8 Industrial Corridor
EVENT: The Western Pennsylvania Brownfields Center at Carnegie Mellon University will hold a press conference May 4 at 11:30 a.m. at Fall Run Park in Shaler Township to unveil a plan to address flooding issues and land-use for a sliver of light industrial land stretching from Glenshaw Glass Co. to Nicklas Supply Inc.
Land use recommendations will be unveiled by six national redevelopment experts who spent the last several days at a workshop designed to explore the redevelopment potential for a 1 ½ mile light industrial corridor along Route 8 in Shaler Township.
Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Shaler Township Manager Tim Rogers, along with officials from the Western Pennsylvania Brownfields Center at Carnegie Mellon, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, the Allegheny Rivertowns Enterprise Zone and the Allegheny Land Trust, will attend the press briefing.
