Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley to Graduate 81 Students
Carnegie Mellon's Silicon Valley campus will have a diploma ceremony at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8 when 81 graduates will receive their master's degrees in software engineering and management. This year's keynote speaker is Scott Dietzen, most recently SVP of Applications at Yahoo! In this role, he helped look after Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, Flickr, Groups, Answers and Zimbra, managing a 600+ person organization and aggregate $600+ million revenue business. Dietzen is an alumnus of Carnegie Mellon, receiving his master's and Ph.D. in computer science in 1992.
Previous Silicon Valley campus commencement speakers have included Elizabeth King, Hitachi Data Systems Corporation; Guy Kawasaki, Garage Technology Ventures; Drew Perkins, Infinera Corporation; Gordon Bell, Microsoft; and Richard Metz, Boeing Information Technology.
