Welcome CIT Class of 2012
Welcome to the College of Engineering. I will empower and mentor you through the first-year of your college academic and personal journey.
I am a Pittsburgh native and have worked in higher education for the past 12 years, specifically with first-year (freshmen) students. First-year students in my option have the experience the most excitement, energy, and eagerness to learn. However, it is ok to feel anxiety or apprehensive about starting a new chapter of your life. College is fun, but for the first few weeks it may also be a little bit intimidating. I am here to ensure you make a successful high school to college transition.
I am in my final year of earning a PhD, so you will start the year by calling me Pam but the year will end with you calling me Dr. Golubski. So much like you, this will be the most exciting and rewarding year of my life. Hard work will always pay off. It just takes time to see the results, so always hang in there and keep on keeping on.
One of the greatest things about attending college is that oftentimes, it is your first opportunity to practice independence, accountability and decision-making for yourself. Student success really begins with the attitude you bring to campus. Vincent Lombardi, stated it best; “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will”. It won't always be a smooth road, but a commitment to the learning process is a positive first step. Together we will ensure that you take advantage of all that Carnegie Mellon has to offer its students.
Enjoy your summer (I know it will fly by), and I look forward to meeting you soon.
