CIT Women in Engineering Network Initiative

Why a Networking Program?
Many undergraduate engineering students are uncomfortable interacting with faculty and would benefit significantly from a mentor relationship with a professional with whom they have something in common. CIT alumni and females employed in the engineering field represent an ideal and credible resource for current undergraduate students to learn about career opportunities and to seek educational advice. Read more about the program in CIT's Engineering Magazine.

Program Purpose
The CIT Women in Engineering Network Program was established to foster relationships between female undergraduate students, alumni, and professional engineers. The emphasis of the program is on acquiring career guidance and information, benefiting from developing a professional networking, building confidence and commitment to the field of engineering, and gaining valuable academic and professional advice. The purpose of the program is not to perform internship or job prospecting. The intent of the program is for both the professional and the student to benefit from the interaction and relationship that evolves.

Process

The CIT Network Program begins in the fall and lasts for one year. It is a voluntary program, provided as an opportunity for first-year students to make immediate connections with CIT alumni and professional female engineers. The program is simple in that it female engineers and students will get to know each other through various in-person events. These events include: dinner and lunches,  on campus events and lectures, professional workshops, and common book reading clubs in an effort to cultivate relationships.
