First-Year Students

At CIT, we provide our first-year students with all the resources they need to make a successful transition and acclimation into the Carnegie Mellon and CIT communities.

First-Year Academic Advising

Students are not officially assigned a faculty advisor until they declare a major (usually towards the end of the second semester). For first-year concerns, students are encouraged to contact the Office of Undergraduate Studies or get involved in the First-Year Advisory Board (FAB), a group of first-year students chosen to help the college understand the first-year experience.
