The IBM Carnegie Mellon Research Exchange at Carnegie Mellon is a joint effort that has come from collaboration with Robert Morris (Carnegie Mellon's Partnership Executive) and Spiros Papadimitriou, Research Staff Member, IBM Research (Carnegie Mellon Alum and Campus Liaison) and others at IBM. The purpose of this event is to maintain an ongoing exchange of research ideas between IBM researchers and Carnegie Mellon faculty in an effort to develop collaborative research activities of mutual interest. From this foundation, IBM and Carnegie Mellon can work together to build core research strengths to solve academic and industrial/corporate problems. The first exchange of ideas was hosted by IBM in early February 2007 at the T.J. Watson Research facility in New York. Twelve Carnegie Mellon faculty and staff met with a large number of IBM researchers and kick off this ongoing interaction.
