At the dawn of its second century—with alumnus Dr. Pradeep K. Khosla (CIT '84 and '86) at its helm—the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon is poised to excel among fellow top-tier programs. We are a globally-renowned college dedicated to providing superior technological education while instilling creative problem-solving and teamwork skills in our students.

Hamerschlag In its annual “America’s Best Colleges” edition, U.S. News and World Report recently ranked Carnegie Mellon Engineering sixth in graduate education among top tier institutions. But, we must work harder than ever to secure our position as a prominent national engineering program.

Our students are of the first rank, as is our faculty. Students study directly with and participate in sophisticated research with renowned faculty scholars who are as committed to teaching as they are to research. High-quality classroom experiences distinguish the College of Engineering; however, we are challenged to recruit the best and brightest students into our programs.

The mission of the Colleges of Engineering is to “provide students with the fundamental knowledge, interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, societal and business awareness, and confidence required to excel in their chosen professions and be leaders in a global environment; to be recognized as one of the elite engineering colleges through research, innovation in education, and the transfer of concepts and results to technology and engineering practice; and to maintain a collegial, supportive, and diverse environment that encourages our students, faculty, and staff to achieve to the best of their abilities.”

We welcome you to come back and visit CIT. See an old professor or meet our students. Offer an internship, a fellowship, or become a mentor or a visiting lecturer. Or just come back and visit, in person or online. We look forward to seeing you again.
