National Engineer's Week seeks to applaud the contributions of engineering to society. With a strong engineering tradition, Carnegie Mellon celebrates the people behind the technology. Join us this year for E-week, from February 13-20. Events Include:


February 7:

  • Engineering Movie/Late Night, UC: Booths/activities run by various engineering groups and organizations; opportunity for people to socialize and learn more about engineering.


February 13:

  • Mr. Engineer, Rangos 1, UC: A battle between contestants for the title of Mr. Engineer through talent, duct tape outfits, and Q&A.


February 15:

  • Engineering Carnival, Rangos Ballroom, UC: Various student organizations set up booths and host activities that inform, excite, and engage young children in science and engineering; entertainment, raffles, and refreshments provided.


February 16:

  • MSE Breakfast, 8:20 - 10:30 a.m., Porter Hall

  • Technology Showcase, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m., Connan, Wean & Kirr Commons, UC: This new event brings together engineers from different disciplines in academia and industry to share their exciting and innovative work with the community. There will be a showcase of devices, models, demonstrations, posters, slideshows, digital media, as well as the opportunity to network with students, faculty, alumni, and other community members. Prizes awarded; raffle and refreshments served.

  • Ice Cream Social, 8 - 10 p.m., Peter/Wright/McKenna Rooms, UC: Co-hosted with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).


February 17:

  • CEE Breakfast, 8:20 - 10:30 Porter Hall

  • Engineering Design Competition, 4:30 - 6 p.m., Rangos 2, UC: Co-hosted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), teams of students design and build a device to accomplish a defined task.

  • Engineering Symposium, 7 - 8:30 p.m., Peter/Wright/McKenna Rooms, UC: Initiated last year, a panel of speakers discuss engineering projects around the world.


February 18:

  • ChemE Breakfast, 8:20 - 10:30 a.m., Doherty Hall Lobby

  • Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., UC: Inform and encourage young girls who are considering engineering. Local high school students attend a keynote lecture, luncheon, tours, activities that expose them to various engineering fields, and intro to engineering classes/shadow CIT students.


February 19:

  • ECE Breakfast, 9 - 10:30 a.m., 1112 Hamerschlag Hall

  • Dinner with 19 Strangers, 6:30 - 8 p.m., Danforth Lounge, UC: New event co-hosted with Carnegie Mellon Alumni Relations features 19 CIT alumni and students will be selected to dine and share their stories of Carnegie Mellon, engineering, and beyond with each other.


February 20:

  • Free Breakfast, 8;20 - 10:30 a.m.: Sponsored by departmental SAC.

  • Volunteering @ Carnegie Science Center, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Carnegie Mellon students will assist departments with running outreach activities at the Science Center.

  • CIT Ball, Location and Time TBA


February 21:

  • Volunteering @ Carnegie Science Center, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Carnegie Mellon students will assist departments with running outreach activities at the Science Center.
